According to its press release General Secretariat of Tourism of the Xunta de Galicia On August 6th, Camino Xacobeo announced the launch of a comprehensive exhibition on the Codex Calixtinus, which will tour various Spanish and international cities starting in September and continuing throughout 2013. Spanish cities to include are Madrid, León, and Málaga. The exhibition aims to satisfy the great interest generated by the manuscript following its theft and recent recovery by the National Police's Heritage Brigade.
The contents will be educational and historical, as contained in the Codex Calixtinus, cultural environment where it was born, mentality of the time, information about the Cathedral of Santiago and its city in the 12th century.
Among the pieces that will be exhibited will, of course, be the facsimile of the Codex Calixtinus, enlarged photographs of the manuscript's miniatures, virtual reconstruction of the high altar and the north facade of the original Romanesque cathedral according to the descriptions of the Book V of the Codex Calixtinus.
Of course, from www.codexcalixtinusfacsimil.com we are making all the necessary arrangements to actively participate, both in the development and the content, to support its successful implementation.
