These past few days, the media has bombarded us with reports claiming that the Codex Calixtinus was stolen from the vicinity of the Cathedral. The prestigious RTVE program Informe Semanal suggested in its report that only someone with a thorough understanding of the scant security measures could have stolen the original. In the report, even the notorious Erik "the Belgian," a former expert thief of sacred art, remarked on the incomprehensibility of the theft, stating that "it's easier to buy a facsimile than to steal the original," thus ruling out financial gain as the motive, given the existence of a facsimile copy. The renowned publisher Manuel Moleiro<\/b> He emphasized that it is very difficult to place this book on the black market, since it is such a well-known work that it seems impossible anyone would be willing to buy it. In short, everything indicates that tomorrow, the 25th, the feast day of St. James the Apostle, the book will be returned under the protective seal of confession. We fervently hope so.
