That life has many curiosities that surprise us over time is something we learn with age. That throughout the centuries Calixtus II and the Codex Calixtinus They have traveled inseparable paths to the point of thinking that he himself wrote it; this is not a new fact.

What is truly surprising today, with the dramatic events we are experiencing (the tragedy of the manuscript theft), is the irony that would arise thirteen centuries later, since few people know that Calixtus II himself approved Decrees against thieves of the Church and forgers of ecclesiastical documents in the First Lateran Council, On March 18, 1123, he was supported by some 300 bishops and 600 abbots who came from all parts of Catholic Europe.

Now it seems that the resolution of the Codex Calixtinus case is close, but nothing assures us that the possible interventionMay divine intervention and the help of the Pope, protector of the Way, be enough to recover safe and sound our beloved codex, which has survived wars, famines, plagues, fires, and what wears us down most: the passage of time. But we do not know if it will survive the human greed.

The The latest information we have from the media is that the police have significantly narrowed down the search for the thief of the Compostela manuscript. Perhaps the anxiety that the Dean of the Cathedral of Santiago is accumulating, Don José María Díaz, This led him to raise suspicions about the alleged criminals much sooner than they would have preferred; but thanks to his unfortunate statements, we know that the investigators believe they are closer to solving the case and that they also fear for the integrity of the specimen, which makes us think that, although we have repeatedly demanded information about the investigations, the best course of action right now would have been prudence.

We hope to be the first to report the recovery of our valued Codex Calixtinus.
